Microneedling, a Skin Tightening Treatment for Collagen Production

Microneedling is a skin tightening treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin production. These are proteins found in the skin that help your skin stretch and snap back, also strengthening and tightening the skin. Your body begins to lose collagen and elastin at the age of 30, contributing to the aging process. After age 30, we lose 1% per year. Microneedling involves puncturing the skin with tiny sterile needles, creating a controlled micro-injury.  This stimulates your body to produce more collagen and elastin in that area. 

The skin is cleansed and then a topical numbing cream is applied to make the procedure more comfortable. A microneedling pen containing tiny needles is used to puncture the skin. A serum rich in hyaluronic acid is driven down into these channels allowing for better absorption of the product. A moisturizer is then applied which will aid in healing and hydrating the skin.
